I get being in a bad spot, but some edgy kids really don't know how bad life can actually get... For example, some kids think that just because their parent took away their video games or internet access they're being abused. They have NO IDEA. Life can suck, but a lot of people on the internet really overdo it.
Sanslet0n Featured By Owner Edited May 23, 2017  Hobbyist Digital Artist
Back when I was an edgy kid I used to say this a lot. Thankfully, I woke up. Unfortunately a lot of people around me still seem to do this and tbh it gets annoying. I understanding being in a bad spot in life, but seriously, acting like edgy little whiners solves nothing.
Stormlover10 Featured By Owner Mar 30, 2017
It's true though. I've been through a lot, and am still going through it. I especially suffer from severe anxiety.

But I can see how it gets annoying.

What they're trying to say is this:

I generally just stop talking to people who whine like that. :I I got enough negativity in my life. I don't need anyone elses'. If a person's gonna bitch like a whimpass 24/7, then it may be THEM that is making their life shitty. Y'a goddamn negative ninny. If you aren't going to TRY to help yourself, why should I put up with YOUR crap?

note: esp. when they're bitching about trivial bullshit. like they got the wrong colour iphone or they didn't get to see their favourite movie and they whine about it for the next month. BOO HOO. get over it. :I At least you're privileged enough to have/do these things at all. Be grateful, gdfi.

note2: like the person down below, I get it when you're in a really lousy situation and you've gotten fired/gotten evicted from your home, but HEY. COULD BE WORSE. So in other words, instead of being a negative nancy, try to be positive and help yourself ( or at least LOOK for help, using whatever resources you can get your hands on ). Complaining ain't gonna fix jack shit. it's just going to piss people off. (x

My general dislike is when people BLOW shit up way out of proportion to what is going on, this "my life sucks" is so out of place most of the time I see it on DA. "I didn't get this adopt I wanted, MY LIFE SUCKS" or something like that, when their life just isn't actually that bad. It doesn't warrant the "life sucks" thing.

or they are actually going through psychological distress and they will not seek help because they think they can't. Keyword, THINK. instead of going out and trying to do things. I'm telling you, most of the time, if you stand idly by and let whatever is making life suck happen, it'll only get worse. Seriously. I meet people all the time on sites like this and they complain, complain, complain, and don't want to get help, they've tried a LITTLE and just given up. Help is out there. There's even a phone number you can call to literally give you resources for mental help and suicide prevention AND a website. I just don't understand sometimes.

Now completely warranted, I just got fired from my job and I might be homeless my life suck type of things, yes I completely understand. It's very few things that peeve me when people use this phrase.

also, I mostly refer to people on DA.

The stamp is right, because our lives might as well suck as much as your's. We know how you feel. People ought to stop complaining because they're not going anywhere.

I'm of course not a happy person but I never whine about it online, people just look annoying/immature most of the time when they do offense to anyone.
nekonotaishou Featured By Owner Aug 21, 2016  Professional Filmographer
Dwelling on the negative will not help you fix it, it will only help you notice what needs fixing. And, regardless of what most people think, about 99% of the time, it could be worse than it is.
I understand that teenagers go through an attention-seeking bitchfit stage, I went through that myself. Let me say that that, truly, no one wants to hear about. Teens, please can it.
Teens with serious life issues, go get help.

I know there are people with actual problems out there- but hearing how almost everyone on the Internet talks about how much their life sucks...
Yes, life DOES suck some times! There's no need to point it out all the time...
OllieKyusu Featured By Owner Mar 18, 2016
but what if your life does suck? and people find the internet as their only way of crying for help?
(especially for teenagers who live at home and can't change that)
canned-eggs Featured By Owner Apr 30, 2016
i think that it's okay to cry for help and approach it in a way of 'im so tired of this, what can i even do anymore', but when it is just about attitude and people keep whining that their life sucks -when their attitude and behavior sucks- and no help or anything is good enough for them and they just dwell in it, well then it just gets really tiring to hear.

tldr; just repeating over and over how your life sucks and can't be helped isn't gonna make it better.
OllieKyusu Featured By Owner May 1, 2016
Yeah I understand. There are unfortunately a lot of people like that, and then the people who really do need help are too scared to call out for it because of the fear of being called "an attention seeker"
canned-eggs Featured By Owner May 1, 2016
I think that people in general disliking negative attitude and unwillingness to better yourself is harmless towards the group you mention.
After all, even if I dislike that useless whining to the point of almost hating it, I have never made an assumption of someone opening up or begging for help to be that useless whining.

So if anyone would complain to me I would probably listen, offer advice, help them find irl help if necessary, share my own experience and listen some more.
If I would notice that the person just keeps complaining and takes no steps of getting help/getting better, and/or tries to gain something (money, art, using others to feel safe in unhealthy way, control over me or other such things) then I would tell them how I see things and be on my way to do something more useful like my own things or helping someone who wants to be helped.

And I have noticed that many people who have some experience in relationships and can see things somewhat rationally would do that.
And if someone turns down a teenager seeking help and is rude to them, yeah that person is behaving like an asshole, but chances are that they didn't have the necessary maturity and resources to help the other anyway.

But yeah this is just how I see things and is based on what I have experienced. : >
OllieKyusu Featured By Owner May 1, 2016
Yeah, I understand completely, I saw a lot of it during most of my my teenage years.
And yeah I agree, people (Who come to me for help) actually feel better when they know I'm speaking from personal experience.

Get help. Yes. There are people thatwill help you. People in REAL life. Going around and complaining about how awful your life is on the Internet won't make anything better.
softesaur Featured By Owner Mar 3, 2016  Hobbyist General Artist
however harsh it is, nobody on the internet seriously cares about your sucky life. like, go get help- don't whine to us, because we'll just make things worse. (referring to the internet people as a group)

It's like if there isn't any negative than positive,
what is the point of living.

Negative and Positive is a balance of live, even if one of them were to be higher you can always use the other to make is lower.
Mongezeas-Kira Featured By Owner Oct 8, 2014  Hobbyist Digital Artist
i feel like most of the time its just a generalized statement. like when people say "literally" to mean figuratively. usually, at least from what ive seen, people say these things because specifiying the exact depth of the situation (i dont know the proper words sorry) is tiresome and they just want to vent.
in reality, im pretty sure they understand that their situation could be much worse.
or at least, thats what i think.

(plus if theyre having a bad time i think its better to try and make them feel better instead of putting them down for saying how they feel because honestly, that won't fix jack diddly. B( )
